LEGO BATMAN 2 is at the top of the charts for a third consecutive week, despite dropping in sales
by 30 per cent.
It was followed closely by SEGA’s London 2012: The Official Video Game, which saw sales shoot up 81 per cent as we move closer to the start of the sporting event. The Xbox 360 edition of the game is the top selling individual SKU of the entire week, and the game was also the top selling PlayStation 3 game.
Dead Islandreturns to the charts this week as a ‘Game of the Year’ SKU. The DEEP SILVER title features last year’s game coupled with all the DLC released to date. It reached No.5 in the All Formats Charts and was also the top selling budget game.
As for new releases, SQUARE ENIX’s smash hit Final Fantasy series returns as a rhythm action game. Theatrhythm: Final Fantasyis a Nintendo 3DS exclusive, it reached No.19 in the All Formats Top 40 and was the best selling 3DS game.
Meanwhile, ELECTRONIC ARTS’ new MMO The Secret Worldmade its chart debut this week, too. The game just about scraped into the Top 40 at No.38. The title was actually released on a Tuesday, with 74 per cent of its first week sales coming in the first 24 hours. The Secret Worldis the sixth game this year to release in the middle of the week, compared with just three over the same time scale in 2011.
Elsewhere, The Amazing Spider-Manfrom ACTIVISION drops from No.2 to No.3, suffering a slight sales decline of 15 per cent. Meanwhile, last week’s second biggest release – 2K’s Spec Ops: The Line– falls to No.4, with a sales drop of 24 per cent.
