The Micro-Trains paired window coach is a faithful reproduction of Pull- man Plan No. 2882b. From the draw- ings I have examined, the model close- ly matches the prototype’s dimensions. This particular plan was a Baltimore & Ohio plan (see the prototype photo for the carbody’s appearance), but oth- er railroads used cars of this same plan for themselves, as well. The Pullman- built cars were a good, utilitarian pas- senger cars and many railroads made use of them.

Micro-Trains Line has, once again, brought forth another significant pas- senger car to the world of N scale. This time it’s a paired window, heavyweight coach. In the era of heavyweight pas- senger cars, there were two main styles of this type of car: the paired window and single window coach. This designation refers to the grouping of windows as you looked down the side of the car. The paired window coach has its windows grouped into pairs by a wide post, while the single window coach has its windows equally spaced along the length of the car.
Micro-Trains has already produced this car lettered for Pullman, Great Northern, Pennsylvania Railroad, Canadian Pacific and Southern Pacific. The latest cars are painted for the Union Pacific, and other road names will surely come in the future. (The B&O blue and gray scheme was re- leased just as this issue was going to the printer.) As railroads had many coaches on their roster, it would be neat to see these coaches appear in “runner-packs” offering multiple road numbers for each road name. As always with Micro-Trains prod- ucts, the paint on the car is superb. The UP car has a multi-color paint job which is pretty fussy to do. The yellow car features red stripes along the top and bottom edges of the car sides, and the roof, car ends, steps and underside are all gray. The red lettering is out- lined with black and is done so well that it is just a thing of beauty. The black outline is so thin and clean that it is easy to miss if you glance at the
