Daniel Aldrich Lives in: Downtown Charleston.


From: Mount Pleasant.


Education: Wando High School; sophomore at the College of Charleston.


Employment: Student and pre-season All-American outfielder for the College of Charleston Cougars.


Favorite reading: “Lord of the Rings.” Favorite music: J. Cole; rap; hip hop. Activities: Baseball; playing guitar; boating; wake-skating. Interests: Video games. Likes: Cougar baseball.

Susan Marlowe Lives in: I’On.


From: Columbia, South Carolina; moved to Mount Pleasant in 1973.


Education: B.A., Fine Arts, College of Charleston; M.Ed., College of Charleston.


Employment: Retired after 28 years of teaching visual arts in Mount Pleasant and Sullivan’s Island public schools; completed more than 300 private commissions over 30 years as a portrait artist; sales consultant and owner of the Mount Pleasant Carlisle Collection NY since 2005.


Favorite reading: Coffee table travel books; non-fiction; Internet articles. Favorite music: Classical; folksy vocals.


Activities: Patriots Point board of directors; Mardi Gras Charleston; Greater Lowcountry Republican Women’s Club; ECEW Meals on Heels; wardrobe consultant.


Interests: Politics; the arts; fashion. Likes: Bichon Frise; I’On marsh paths; good times with friends and family.

Ken Glasson


Lives in: Park West. From: Family dates back to early 1810s in Charleston; born in Moorestown, New Jersey; joined the Marine Corps at 17 and traveled the world; moved to Mount Pleasant in 1999.


Education: Bachelor of Arts from Glassboro State College (now Rowan University); MBA from


Averette University, Danville, Virginia.


Employment: Retired from Marine Corps at rank of Mustang Lieuten- ant Colonel after 31 years of service as infantry officer, reconnaissance marine and intelligence officer; owner of Coastal Wealth Management – financial services, retirement and estate planning; opening Mount Pleasant Paint Ball; member of Mount Pleasant Town Council.


Favorite reading: Tom Clancy; military and history books. Favorite music: Country-western, especially Johnny Cash.


Activities: Hanging out with my kids (12-year-old son; 20-year-old daughter); fishing; crabbing; hunting deer and hog; paintball; golf; kickboxing; coaching kids’ sports teams; traveling with family; coor- dinator for annual Mount Pleasant gala to raise money and toys for Toys for Tots; Life Park Church member and Step-Up ministry leader.


Interests: Serving and helping those who may be less fortunate; build- ing things and programs; resolving issues and helping make changes to make things better; unraveling the mess.

Father John Parker Lives in: Belle Hall. From: Camp Lejune, North Carolina.


Education: BA in Spanish with a minor in German from the College of William and Mary; MDiv from Trinity Episcopal School for Ministry; MTh from Saint Vladimir’s Orthodox Theological Seminary.


Employment: Pastor at the Holy Ascension Orthodox Church in I’On; chair of the Department of Evangelization, Orthodox Church in America.


Favorite reading: “On the Incarnation,” by St. Athanasius; “Way of the Ascetics,” by Tito Colliander.


Favorite music: The Clash; punk music; early U2; REM; baroque/clas- sical; Spanish flamenco; hip hop; fusion.


Activities: Spending time with family; nightly family dinner; enjoying 18 years of marriage; surfing; playing guitar and mandolin; scuba diving.


Interests: Helping folks find and understand the meaning of life and walking the path with them.
