Mick Shauf DC Team Leader, Shipping

“I remember when the power used to go out a lot, almost daily, or our systems would go down and we’d put in some long days. We’d start at 5 a.m. and get home at 11 p.m. “We’ve come a long way. We’ve gone from doing 10 routes

to 30 routes a day and we get it done in 10 hours now. But from day one, you could tell it was a family atmosphere. Everyone gets along and gets the job done day after day. I can’t say enough good things about the atmosphere here. “Now when I go into a store, I realize where everything

comes from. The amount we send there is amazing. I feel proud, because I know I’m a part of these guys getting their stuff.”

Tammy Moore DC Team Leader, Mezzanine

“My department put tax stamps on tobacco products and starting out, we did 2,000 to 3,000 cartons a day. We’ve updated equipment, purchased new stamp machines and have found new ways to be more efficient and productive. Now we do 40,000 to 50,000 cartons a day! “We cross-train so we can move people around to where

they’re needed. We’re always introducing more products, which means more to pick and more jobs to do. We continue to push to be more and more productive!”

Louie Sheetz Executive Vice President of Marketing

“Every step of the way, we can see who supplied the product, where it’s stored in the warehouse, what store it was delivered to, when it was purchased, and how we are going to get it restocked. We know exactly what our costs are for the item and how much profit we make on it. Our DC has been a profitable venture, not only in terms of revenue from their work, but also in terms of store sales. With a 99.8 percent in-stock level, our customers are able to walk into their local Sheetz store and buy what they need, when they need it. We’re keeping the promise we make in our Mission each and every day.”

First Delivery As we planned the first shipment of product from our new Distribution Center (DC), the nation

was devastated by the terrorist attacks on 9/11 in New York City, at the Pentagon and in Shanks- ville, Pennsylvania. Recognizing that we would be able to help, we changed our focus for our first delivery. Instead of shipping product to one of the seven Altoona-area test stores, according to schedule,

new drivers Wayne McClain and Gary Spitzer headed to the Pentagon in Washington, D.C., a week earlier than planned. In response to a request from the Salvation Army, our DC team rushed to get out a delivery of

Gatorade®, juice, snacks and cookies to relief workers at the terrorist crash site in Washington just two days after the attacks. “This is something I’ll remember for a long time; this is something I’ll tell my grandkids,” said

Wayne about his very first assignment as a driver for Sheetz. “It was an honor. Everybody wants to do something to help, but not everybody is able to get that close.” Wayne and Gary were supposed to make a delivery to the Salvation Army offices in D.C., but

instead were escorted by the police to a parking lot in front of the Pentagon, closer than even the media were allowed to get. “It took a long time to get through the security check points,” Gary said. “We were right in the

parking lot. It was shocking to look at the damage. It looked much worse than it did on T.V.” The drivers said the volunteers were very appreciative of the donation and that our trucks turned

a lot of heads. “It was really busy there; there were people running around everywhere gathering donations,”
