SPECIALIST ENVIRONMENTAL SERVICES
WSP is able to provide a diverse range of specialist environmental services using in-house specialists. The following is a selection of those services that are frequently called upon when supporting power and water projects in the region.
Air Quality
We are fully conversant with local standards, industry regulations and global best practice in the field of air quality in the Middle East and North Africa. Our experienced air quality specialists are able to design air quality monitoring programs and develop computer based dispersion modeling for the construction and operation of complex industrial projects.
Coastal Studies
WSP has the capability to provide the entire suite of studies required to assess the potential effects of power and water projects on the coastal environment; including modeling studies, marine ecology surveys and water and sediment testing.
Noise and Vibration Our in-house team of noise and vibration impact assessments specialists are experienced in undertaking impact assessments for power and water projects. Where appropriate, assessments will be supported by baseline studies and state-of-the-art computer modeling.
Soil and Groundwater
We conduct site investigations to identify and manage risks, and plan and implement
necessary remediation work and protect client costs and balance sheets. As well as general brownfield sites, our track record spans a wide array of areas including: oil refineries, bulk storage sites, gas works, steel works, power stations, chemical works, military facilities, former manufacturing sites and waste tips and landfills.
(Solid and Liquid) Waste Management WSP is a leading provider of waste and resource management consultancy. We can design bespoke environmental, resource and waste management systems for large facilities and regulatory programmes to help achieve compliance and mitigate business risks. This includes issues such as: compliance training, permitting, risk identification and evaluation, system reviews and design.
Social Impacts
Understanding and mitigating the social impacts of large scale projects is becoming increasingly important in the Middle East and is a requirement for obtaining international finance. We are able to draw upon our global experience of best practice in social impact assessments in order to fulfill this requirement.
Biodiversity
We are experienced in undertaking ecological site assessments and habitat mapping. We will assess project plans and sites to identify ecologically sensitive areas as early in the process as possible and provide appropriate management plans in order to avoid any significant impacts.
