Co-op members to attend Professional Bull Riders performance for half price
By Anna Politano
embers of Oklahoma’s electric co-ops have the chance to attend the Profes- sional Bull Riders (PBR) Oklahoma City Invitational for half price on Feb. 10, while at the same time making a difference in the lives of hundreds of Oklahoma students. As a result of a partnership between Touchstone Energy Cooperatives of Oklahoma and the PBR, all proceeds from tickets sold to co-op members for the Feb. 10 performance will go toward the Okla- homa Youth Expo/Touchstone Energy Coopera- tive Justin Whitefi eld Scholarship. Justin Whitefi eld, a former executive director of Oklahoma Youth Expo, was instrumental in the establishment of various scholarship programs in 2002. Whitefi eld was tragically killed in a plane crash in 2006. Today, his efforts and dedication to Oklahoma’s agriculture and youth are honored through the scholarship.

Co-op members can purchase tickets for the 8:00 p.m. performance, which will take place on Friday, Feb. 10 at the Chesapeake Arena in Oklahoma City. Discounted tickets are $11 (original price $22). One hundred percent of the proceeds will go to- ward the Justin Whitefi eld scholarship. The scholarship, which started off in the value of $1,000 in 2002, has now become a permanent legacy.
“Oklahoma State University (OSU) approached us about making the scholarship a lifetime legacy through an endowment. It will touch the lives of hundreds of kids,” Jeramy Rich, Oklahoma Youth Expo’s executive director said. “To date, over $25,000 has been raised through the efforts of Touchstone Energy Electric Cooperatives.” OSU will match the funds raised at 150 percent. The endowment will provide permanent scholar- ships for rural youth across Oklahoma to attend OSU. According to Rich, the scholarship will be awarded in March and applicants will face a thor-
