LINEMAN TOUGH Continued from page 12

part of Jackson’s negotiations with Hast- ings included a stipulation that every bucket at Cookson Hills Electric Coopera- tive be supplied with a Bucket Barricade free of charge.

Jason Blalock, lineman for Cookson Hills Electric Cooperative, said he is thank- ful his bucket is fi tted with the shield. “I think it’s great that I know Brian, but I’d want to use it no matter who made it,” Blalock said. “The deal is, if something ever

went wrong and you had it up it would protect you.”

However, Jackson’s intention is not to replace any existing safety precautions. He said the shield should never be used in lieu of protective equipment but instead should be considered a helpful addition. “Bottom line is it just makes sense,” Jackson said. “It’s not in the way until it needs to be in the way—in the way of you getting hurt.“
