WMEA News Leyla Sanyer, WMEA President-Elect 2011 State Music Conference Highlights


This was a critical year in the history of the Wisconsin State Music Conference. With the changes in school calendars there was some concern that attendance would dramatically decrease and teachers would not be able to attend the confer- ence. However we are so happy to note that participation was almost the same as 2010 and many teachers lobbied for the chance to come to Madison. Jerry Kember, superintendent of schools in La Crosse, delivered the keynote presenta- tion at the general session and it was well received as he spoke about the importance of what educators do in the classroom ev- ery day.
