certifi cate, Yachtmaster® Coastal, RYA Yachtmaster® Off shore or RYA Yachtmaster® Ocean Certifi cates of Competence can gain commercial endorsement by completing a one-day Basic Sea Survival course, the RYA Professional Practices and Responsibilities course and a medical examination. Gaining these qualifi cations can help you achieve professional placement aboard Red Ensign Yachts.


RYA AND MCA QUALIFICATIONS


RYA and MCA (Maritime Coastguard Agency) certifi cation go hand in hand. Our certifi cates can be used professionally in their own right or as a stepping stone to other MCA qualifi cations.


RYA Yachtmaster® Coastal Certifi cate of Competence Valid for command positions for vessels up to 24m load line length operating up to 20 miles from a safe haven. It can also be used as a watch keeping qualifi cation up to 150 miles off shore for vessels up to 200gt.


RYA Yachtmaster® Off shore Certifi cate of Competence Valid for command positions for vessels up to 200gt operating up to 150 miles of a safe haven. It can also be used as a watch keeping qualifi cation up to 150 miles off shore for vessels up to 500gt. Entry route to the MCA Master 200gt and MCA Offi cer Watch (yachts less than 3000gt).


RYA Yachtmaster® Ocean Certifi cate of Competence Valid for command positions for vessels up to 200gt operating to over 150 miles of a safe haven. It can also be used as a watch keeping qualifi cation up to 150 miles off shore for vessels up to 500gt. It is a pre-requisite for the MCA Chief Mate (yachts less than 3000gt).

RYA PROFESSIONAL PRACTICES AND RESPONSIBILITIES COURSE


This is a new online course (available from April 2012) and is required for all RYA-qualifi ed professionals operating vessels up to 200gt. The course covers the legal framework which all positions must understand and comply with and covers the legal responsibilities of a commercial operator, regulation and guidance and managing the vessel.
