Budding photographers have been recognised through a competition run by City & Guilds. With the contest open to


students working toward their Level 1, 2 and 3 Photo Imaging qualifi cation, Alexa Pereira Wilding won in the level 3 category for her photo, Model with Flowers (see left), while studying at Morley College. ‘I was totally thrilled to have won as this is a very prestigious competition!’ said Alexa. ‘I wasn’t aware of the competition at fi rst, but my tutor advised that I enter and I’m so glad I did. Winning the competition has given me more confi dence to pursue photography professionally.’ Karen Morgan from Monmouth was named winner in the level 1 category

The City & Guilds 2011 Photography Competition saw over 200 applicants entering 750 images, in the hope of fi nding a place in London’s Morley Gallery

Karen Morgan Karen Morgan’s winning photo, Butterfl y Dance, was achieved after spending three hours in a butterfl y house, trying to capture the butterfl ies in fl ight.
