Specialty Hospital is strongly integrated with the child healing process. Particular attention has been given to energy saving strategies in the hospital, to introduce the application of sustainability in a healthcare facility. As well as new facilities, we must also

remember existing facilities and the work they are doing to keep up with modern-day technology. Refurbishment of existing facilities is a major part of the Hospital Build industry and Stephen Fenn, Director of Facilities Management at the American Hospital Dubai touches on this in his article on page 20. Although it has been operational in the region for 15 years, the American Hospital continually faces many changes in terms of infection control, management, refurbishment and sustainability.
