ConstruCtIon MODULAR WiRing

factory assembled and fully tested cabling system which replaces the traditional wiring of electrical sub circuits.

SO HOWDOeS it DiffeR fROM cOnventiOnAL SySteMS? The main difference is that modular systems avoid the need for any conduit cutting, cable pulling or electrical terminations because the cable assemblies are designed and produced off-site in a quality controlled environment before being delivered to site pre-assembled and fully tested. This drastically reduces the required installation program and cuts the number of qualified electricians required to carry out installation work with associated benefits of improved quality, health and safety and greatly reduced waste. Because modular wiring systems offer a

very high degree of flexibility and versatility for both the installer and end-user it also delivers some significant benefits and improved long-term project performance. The overall risk element for the installer is reduced. Cable snagging is greatly reduced and as no cable pulling is performed on site or during the assembly processes site safety is never compromised. Moreover, site safety is improved through the use of

Apex’s insulated connector system, which reduces onsite tooling and operations for terminating luminaires, switches, sockets and other accessories.

These pluggable assemblies can be used

with any brand of luminaire or accessory in the same way that the pre-wired, pluggable Distribution Board assembly can be used with any brand of DB. One of the great advantages of the modular approach is the use of such pluggable DB’s and accessories, which ensure connection times are much faster than being traditionally hard wired as the elements simply plug together, saving time and reducing onsite fault finding. In addition to the migration towards site

pre-fabrication and lean, green construction methods, the availability of skilled labour and sheer volume employed on site by the local construction industry are two big reasons people are turning to modular systems. The current economic conditions faced across the MENA region is putting more pressure than ever on everybody within the supply chain to deliver projects on time and on budget, while driving the reduced risk/cost saving strategies wherever possible. This is exactly what modular wiring is all about. Each of the systems have been designed for simplicity and versatility, which means 

IN SHORT

■ Prime Electrical Manufacturing connects with their first hospital development in Abu Dhabi but already has a second in their sights

■ Modular wiring has been embraced for new builds to cut electrical installation times, reduce onsite waste and provide a pre-wired factory tested power and lighting system
