But even accom- plishing these achievements in his first twelve months of trading, Stephen can still be found doing virtually everything associated with his business, from making the brews to office work, selling the product and even personally delivering machines to his customers himself.


Howard Plant Sales Ltd is located in Middle- wich on a third of an acre site with a generous yard area, fully functioning workshop, parts area and offices. The location is ideal according to Stephen as it’s just off junction 18 of the M6 and within three quarters of an hour drive to any of the major city centres ion the north west of England.


Since being appointed as Volvo Construction Equipment’s utility equipment dealer for the north west of England twelve months ago Howard Plant Sales Ltd has returned an impressive performance, retailing in excess of fifty new Volvo models and twenty five second hand machines at the height of one of the worst recessions in the construction equipment industry.


Howard Plant Sales is headed up by manag- ing director Stephen Howard who has worked within the construction equipment industry for over thirty years in various capacities from his early apprenticeship through to board director of a leading capital equipment supplier. Stephen even had a brief spell selling Pel Job mini excava- tors before the company was acquired by Volvo.


Since being appointed by Volvo to look after their range of utility equipment for Lancashire, Merseyside and Greater Manchester last April Stephen Howard has notched up an impressive list of retail sales including compact excavators and tandem rollers besides investing in a bespoke yard and premises for his growing business. Supported by his wife and company secre- tary Jane Howard, Stephen has also taken


The company is unique within the Volvo utility equipment dealer body within Great Britain since it deals exclusively with Volvo branded equipment. “Being 100% Volvo sets us apart from our competitors and helps us pass on the benefits of the Volvo brand, its support and core values to our own customers,” says Stephen Howard. “In addition we can tap into Volvo’s customer centre at Warrington for additional support which again will benefit our customers.”
