Managing the demand

Welcome to edition 17 of the VOICE magazine – the voice of Volvo Construction Equipment in GB.

‘All work and no play makes Jack a dull boy’ – as the saying goes, so it was with great pleasure that the company held a family day here at Duxford for all of its employees, families and friends at the beginning of July. Having endured the rigours of the last two years with the whole of the organisation focussed on driving the business forward we felt it was high time to ease off the throttle, relax a little and give something back. In total 700 colleagues, friends and families enjoyed a spectacular day out whilst at the same time raising money for the Addenbrookes children’s cancer unit.

But back to business and we move positively in an improving market place – so much so that we are challenged with managing the demand for equipment across all sectors and product types. I am pleased to report that we have had positive feedback to the swathe of product launches of our Tier IIIB products earlier in the year and the company is on track to introduce the remaining Tier IIIB machines – mainly the smaller excavators and loading shovel products throughout the remainder of 2011 and the start of 2012.

We remain highly focussed on supporting you, our customer in every aspect of our business. For instance we have set up interactive customer management teams (CMT’s) at each of our support centres made up of sales, parts and service personnel to deal with local issues designed to improve yet further our support and service to you. In addition we have produced a Customer Charter which will also be rolled out through the last quarter of 2011.

In addition to our usual round up of news stories and special applications, this edition of the VOICE looks at the benefits of Caretrack, our telematics system in the eyes of one of our customers and explains in more detail how our local CMT’s will directly be of benefit to you. We also report on our unique position of accredited training providers for paving equipment in GB and finally in the tradition of our earlier editions of the magazine feature three of our independent utility equipment dealers, welcoming Cambrian Plant Sales as the latest utility dealer appointed to cover South Wales.

I hope you enjoy our magazine!
