And so, following this tradition, we welcome Paul Martin into the role of Area Business Manager looking after Yorkshire and Cleveland. Paul, who is 31 years old, took up the position this July having spent the last four years on the spanners as a home based mobile engineer covering Lincolnshire, Humberside and West Yorkshire. Paul originally comes from a farming background and studied agricultural engineering at Bishop Burton College whilst serving his apprenticeship. However he decided there was more scope moving into the wider world of construction equipment and spent three years as an engineer for Bobcat gaining considerable experience with skid steer loaders and tele-handlers.
“I’ve really enjoyed the last three years as a mobile engineer working for Volvo,” says Paul. “It’s given me the opportunity to become familiar with the products and the way the company works so when the opportunity arose to step up, I saw my chance and went for it.” Still very new into the job Paul is already busy in getting around his patch and making new acquaintances and contacts.

A prime example and testament to this fact is our current Managing Director Val Ledden.
Val joined the company in 1988 as a mobile engineer working out of our Woking support centre and was then promoted to Area Business Manager looking after Berkshire,
Oxfordshire and Bucks. From there Val took on various management positions on both the sales and customer support sides of the company culminating in his appointment as Managing Director three years ago.

And when the phone stops ringing, Paul’s pastimes are football, physical fitness and enjoying the odd day out with his ten year old son. Ski-ing has also become one of his passions and of course there’s always help needed on the farm and a chance to keep his overalls aired!
