Coaxial to PCB connector system can handle frequencies to 67GHz
The MMPX snap-on connector system from the connectivity specialist HUBER+SUHNER is able to provide true 67GHz/80Gbps coaxial to PCB transition. Designed to offer industry leading electrical performance from the smallest mechanical format, the MMPX series consists of cable connectors and assemblies together with PCB connectors and adaptors. Like all HUBER+SUHNER RF products, the MMPX series is designed for the professional end of the market and will address the needs of those engineers who are currently developing and testing RF–based systems in mobile communications, aerospace, defence and high performance industrial applications. Thanks to its broadband characteristics from DC to 67GHz, data rates up to 80Gbps and the strong return loss figures it exhibits, the MMPX series should be able to help “future proof” current designs. Designed by HUBER+SUHNER to save PCB space - the minimal pitch on the board is just 5.08mm (0.2inch) – the MMPX snap-on mechanism is completely decoupled from the electrical path making the connector system

Souriau’s 8D (38999 Series III) comes with Clinch nut
The Souriau 8D connector with integrated clinch nut has been designed to allow easy fitting of aluminum sockets to electronic control boxes. It speeds up Series III connector fitting times, whilst at the same time reducing the number of fixing accessories (bolts, washers etc.) needed. It is particularly suited to boxes with difficult access and requiring maintenance, in an aeronautical or military environment. Square sockets are traditionally held in place
with screws and nuts, possibly with an anodised aluminum backplate fitted to the rear. Fitting them in this way can prove tedious where access is difficult, and can take a great deal of time. The integral clinch nut connector can help to speed up fitting times, while at the same time reducing the number of fixing accessories (bolts, washers etc.) needed. This can also reduce the risk of unwanted accessories being left unintentionally in the box if dropped accidentally.
Souriau has been able to demonstrate that its M3 or UNC4.40 clinch nuts, when fitted to the
Series III flanges, can withstand an axial force of more than 130 Newtons. Torque resistance tests have also shown that the clinch nut will remain in position on the flange even when 1.5 N/m of torque is applied via an end screw. The connector’s nickel flange, when fitted with these clinch nuts, can withstand a 48 hours salt fog in accordance with the MIL-DTL-38999 standard applicable to this type of aeronautical connector. This type of fixing is approved for the nine series III aluminium sizes, which means that the whole of our Series III platform can be used (more than 90 layouts currently available).

ITT ICS CFast card kits meet latest standard for flash-based memory cards
Global connector manufacturer and supplier ITT Interconnect Solutions has announced the launch of a new line of ultrasonically welded two-piece cover sets and 24-pin surface mount connectors designed to meet the latest CFast standards issued by the Compact Flash Association. Developed to accommodate consumer demand for faster storage speeds in a host of consumer applications as well as medical devices this latest Cfast standard is the combination of Compact Flash (CF) and ATA Serial Transport (AST) which offers both flexibility and speed. The new CFast card kits and connectors have been developed to provide both the parallel (PATA) and serial (SATA) interfaces demanded by the new CFA standard and conform to both Type I and Type II of the new specifications. The CFast cover sets consist of a plastic frame moulded around a stainless steel cover and oriented in position with guide-posts, which simplifies assembly. Once assembled, the covers are ultrasonically welded together with a continuous weld joint around the perimeter of the card and are the most secure, tamper-proof, rigid and robust card kits currently available.

Applications cover power and signal. The ALCOSWITCH Blue Series pushbutton switches are available in single- or double-pole, double- throw configurations (SPDT, DPDT) with push on/push off or momentary function. The internal contacts are brass with a silver inlay; optional gold plating is available for signal transmission up to 60mA@30VDC. The silver inlay contacts have an initial resistance of =10 milliohm at 125 VAC, at 1 A at 2 ~ 4 VDC. For the gold plated version the contact resistance is =20 milliohm at 100mA at 2~4VDC.
Equipped with the silver inlay brass contacts the pushbuttons switches are rated for up to 250 VAC at 1.5 amps for European applications and for up to 125 VAC at 3 amps for North American applications. Due to the extremely fast contact travel, the silver inlay version electric lifecycle is 25,000 at load, and 50,000 cycles at load for the gold plated version. This compares to the UL requirement of 6,000 cycles at load. The higher lifecycle of the pushbuttons means that the lifetime of a valuable piece of equipment is less likely to be limited by its electromechanical control elements. Lane Electronics stocking micro38999 connectors
Lane Electronics has announced that it is now able to supply from stock Souriau’s new micro38999 circular connectors which have been designed for the most demanding environments and offer considerable performance advantages over even the smallest MIL-DTL38999 Series III units. The new micro38999 connectors are available in three different fastening systems – screw fastening, bayonet coupling and push-pull. According to Lane’s Managing Director Simon Hammerton, the micro38999 connectors offer the best possible performance from the most compact models currently available. The micro38999 units allow size and weight savings of as much as 50% when compared with regular MIL-DTL38999 Series III connectors. Although size has been dramatically reduced, performance has not been compromised. As an
example, micro38999 connectors can withstand vibration levels of up 44Grms at a temperature of 125ºC for up to 8 hours. The new connectors have removable crimp contacts which allow them to be wired or unwired on-site. Up to 26 contacts can be accommodated in a choice of 5 layouts. Lane Electronics has available product in the classic galvanic coatings although the connectors can be supplied with non-reflective black zinc nickel protection to satisfy the latest RoHS directives.

Components in Electronics
The Nemesis Space Saver connector from ITT Interconnect Solutions is a lightweight, low - almost "no" - profile interconnect designed specifically for wearable and portable military equipment used in modern theatres of war. Front-line military personnel often carry in excess of 45 kg. of wearable equipment on long and arduous missions, so reducing this weight burden is now a top priority of defence departments around the world. The first interconnect of its type, ITT ICS designed the Nemesis Space Saver connector as a compact, lightweight solution, which not only saves weight but also effectively helps shrink the overall size of equipment. Extremely rugged and with a high degree of sealing, Nemesis Space Saver is designed to withstand harsh conditions in the field and features an anti-reflective ROHS-compliant salt- spray resistant plating providing soldier concealability and is guaranteed for 500 hours. Canted spring technology provides a unique snap-on/ripaway coupling to prevent front-line personnel from being endangered should a cable
mechanism is completely different from existing pushbutton style designs. It transfers the movable contact from one position to the other with extreme speed, which helps to reduce arcing and bounce. Due to the spring- loaded action, the user will clearly feel and hear the contact transfer. This feedback is particularly helpful to meet specific human machine interface (HMI) requirements. In applications where the operator cannot typically dedicate his full attention to the control panel at all times, it is a great advantage if the HMI feedback is not solely visual, as this reduces the level of eye-hand coordination needed. Applications that can pose this type of HMI requirement include industrial, medical, general instrumentation, communication equipment, and control equipment.
ALCOSWITCH Blue Series pushbutton switches with snap-action mechanism can be used at operating temperatures of between -20 °C and 80 °C. The epoxy sealed switch terminals are available either with wire lugs or in a PC board mount design. The switch case is made from UL94V-0 epoxy resin. The frame is stainless steel. Caps are available and must be ordered separately. They are available in many colors and two outer diameters.

snag. Other human factor design considerations include the use of ribbed overmolding for secure grip under difficult conditions. Nemesis Space Saver has superior EMI performance to ensure the integrity of high frequency signals, as well as pogo pin contact technology for enhanced contact durability. Its canted spring technology provides full 360 degree EMI protection. Applications include portable computers, weapons, vision systems, headsets, radios, GPS equipment and headsets.
