Trends for 2012:

Cologne will once again be the hub of the hardware sectors for four days, when the INTERNATIONALE EISENWARENMESSE will be open to trade visitors from 4th to 7th March 2012. “The Internationale Eisenwarenmesse provides the specialist trade with the unique opportunity to obtain information on the new innovations from the tools and fastening industry and for industrial supplies,” says Thomas Dammann, CEO of the Central Association of the Hardware Trade. “And since it is a specialist trade fair, the event allows visitors to take a look at their own range of products and suppliers. Here, the trade can get the necessary market overview, which is particularly important in a time of concepts and consolidation." A total of 2,700 exhibitors from more than 50 countries are expected to attend. The fair will be divided into the product categories Tools; Industrial Supply; Fasteners & Fixings, Fittings and Home Improvement. Trade visitors will be able to look forward to many new products and several trends are already becoming apparent. In many cases, small improvements can make work much easier. The newgeneration tool trolleys, for example, have optimised drawers as well as modified wheels

that are bigger and more stable than before while also improving mobility on uneven surfaces. There are also measurement technology innovations, such as electronic spirit levels and laser rangefinders that are increasingly easy to operate. Improvements have also been made in detail when it comes to taking out Allen keys. In an improved Allen key holder, simply turning any of the Allen keys opens all of the keys integrated into the holder. A clamping function ensures that the keys that are not needed cannot fall out. Trade visitors can also look forward to exciting solutions for power tools. One of the highlights will be a new radial tile cutting machine with a greater cut length so that even large tiles pose no obstacle. And thanks to the foldaway base frame and the integrated wheels, the machine can easily be transported from place to place and stored in a space-saving manner.

Koolkut Makes All The Difference Five years ago, tower and scaffolding manufacturer Eurotowers replaced its table saw with a Koolkut KK16 vertical panel saw from British wall saw specialist Sagetech. The Koolkut has made a significant difference to the business, improving flexibility, profit margins and product delivery lead times. Established in the early 1990s, Northampton (UK) based Eurotowers is an

export success story, with a strong global customer base. Most of the company’s products feature an aluminium frame supporting one or more platforms, formed of either sheet aluminium or birch ply. As a result Eurotowers uses large quantities of such sheet materials, all of which need to be cut to size. Every Koolkut saw is built on an enormously strong and rigid steel frame, with

its moving column mounted on unique sealed-for-life linear bearings. This ingenious design allows Koolkuts to be set up exceptionally accurately, to retain that accuracy in the face of even the heaviest workloads, and to require remarkably little operating space. In terms of workload, Eurotowers’ Koolkut KK16 is certainly pulling its weight.

“We cut up to 600 sheets each week - mostly 9mm and 19mm birch ply and 3mm treaded non-slip aluminium plate,” commented Paul Verallo, Eurotowers General Manager. In operation at Eurotowers for five years and at other sites for similar and

longer periods, the Koolkut has demonstrated its durability and reliability. These saws are excellent long-term value-for-money investments, saving users not only on their initial purchase, but also in terms of time and money in their day-to-day running.
