World’s Leading Ladder Company Launches Trade

Range In UK With effect from 1 November 2011, trade professionals in the UK will have a complete new range of fibreglass and aluminium ladders to choose from. In what promises to be the most significant event in the ladder market for years, Werner®, a leading global manufacturer of ladders, is launching over 100 different products that it intends to make ‘the trade choice’. Belper-based Abru Limited, the UK’s largest ladder specialist and manufacturer,

will market the range. A leading member of the UK Ladder Association, Abru was acquired by Werner® in April 2010. The line up, says Werner®, has safety, quality and durability built into every

product. Innovation-led, it comprises stepladders, combination ladders, loft ladders, extension ladders, roof ladders and work platforms. The health and safety benefits of fibreglass have led to this material accounting

for 50 per cent of the US market and the new Werner® range will include fibreglass swingback and platform stepladders, which, consistent with the rest of the range, will be available as either ‘trade’ or ‘industrial’ and comply with all the relevant UK and European standards, in particular BS EN131. Importantly for the safety conscious UK market, it also boasts the unique Lock-

In System™ that accepts a range of accessories designed for convenience and to boost safety and productivity when working at height. The accessories – which store and cater for anything from power and hand tools to paint sprayers and paint - substantially reduce the number of trips required up and down a ladder. To mark the launch, Werner® has produced a free, comprehensive colour

catalogue containing details of all the ladder products available from 1 November. Reply No. 11

Snap-on Celebrates 500th

UK Verdict Sale Snap-on Tools, the UK market leader in tools, tool storage and workshop equipment for the automotive Aftermarket, has recently celebrated the 500th – and 501st - UK sale of its VERDICT hand-held diagnostic tool which was introduced in February this year. The purchaser of the 500th VERDICT was Richard Restarick, of Brandon Test

Centre in Suffolk. The 501st purchaser, Andy Challiss, is also a Brandon Test Centre employee. Richard (right) is pictured with Andy (left) and Darren Batterbee, Snap-on’s Diagnostic Product Specialist Manager during his recent visit to Brandon Test Centre. Snap-on states that VERDICT is a completely new concept in diagnostics. It is a

touch screen unit with three component parts – display unit, scan module & component test meter. The display unit has a Windows operating system with a 7” high resolution touch screen that has USB, WIFI, Bluetooth, hard drive, internet browser and digital camera functions. The display unit controls the scan module, 2 channel scope and the component

test meter remotely giving technicians the freedom to move around the vehicle and the workshop while still being connected to the vehicle. A major benefit of VERDICT is that it is a wireless unit so this is perfect for the workshop as it gives technicians greater flexibility and mobility whilst they try to diagnose faults especially when test driving a vehicle. Brandon is an MOT Test Centre

employing five mechanics – one of whom is Andy -which has been serving North-West Suffolk for 25 years. Because of its proximity to the Lakenheath US Airbase, it operates a VAT-free programme for US personnel and also able to work on all American spec vehicles. Brandon Test Centre has been a long-standing user of Snap-on diagnostic equipment.
