High density HD video cabling for outside- broadcast vehicles
Harting has a new range of connectivity solutions for higher-density cabling for HD video signal-transfer applications in outside- broadcast vans and production trucks as well as modular flight- case flyaway suites and de-rig systems.
The range of compact 75 ohm coaxial contacts can be accommodated in DIN41626 compatible 4-way multi-contact inserts which can then fit into the rugged IP 65 Han-Modular series connectors. There are different coaxial contacts suitable for use with specific industry standard RG-59 and lightweight RG-179 video
cables, allowing SMPTE 292M HD-SDI 1.5 GHz and up to SMPTE 424M HD 1080p/60 3.0 GHz signal transfer. Associated crimp termination tooling is available on request. Controlled connector mating has been
ensured through the use of additional alignment
guide pins and bushes in the HanR B series of hoods and housings. Han Easy-Lock spring- loaded levers allow rugged and reliable connect and disconnect operations, while the Han- Modular flexible mixed insert design concept allows
integrated video, audio and data (Ethernet) signal transfer in one compact connector housing, if required. A range of cable glands is available, and threaded entry areas can accommodate standard conduit fittings to maintain IP 65 protection if separate mixed cables are used. Key product features of the Harting range are HD-SDI and HD 1080p/60 video compliance,
high packing density and improved cable management. Application benefits include fast setup and breakdown, reduced labour time and reduced costs.

TTI adds Souriau 38999 black zinc nickel to assembly capability
Global distributor, TTI, has announced that it now has the capability to assemble Souriau’s 38999 circular connectors with Black Zinc Nickel plating at its recently-opened facility near Munich, Germany. Souriau’s Black Zn Ni plating provides a RoHS-compliant alternative plating process meeting the restrictions of cadmium and Cr6+. It is QPL listed and is the first product which has been qualified by the US Defense standards organisation (DLA Land and Maritime). It offers high corrosion resistance – up to 500 hours salt spray. According to Ros Kruger, TTI, Inc. Marketing
Director, Europe – Military, Aero and Space, “Souriau is a global specialist in high performance, high reliability interconnect solutions for severe environments and is a preferred partner to worldwide air-framers. For many years, the company has been working on environmentally friendly processes in order to anticipate and even exceed environmental regulations, and we believe its Black Zinc Nickel
Multi-Contact connector provides continuous shielding
Developed by Multi-Contact in response to customer demand for a heavy duty electrical connector with continuous EMC shielding, the 16BV-GS is particularly suitable for use with power supply systems using frequency inverters, such as in the operation of three-phase motors. The round, single-pole connector is based on Multi-Contact's successful 16BV, which has been used extensively in test facilities, emergency power supplies and switching installations. The 16BV-GS has been designed for use in rugged conditions, such as those encountered with slurry or 'mud' pumps in the oil and gas industry. It provides touch protection when in the unmated state, while bayonet fixing ensures a secure connection. The shielding provides electromagnetic attenuation of 65 dB up to 100 MHz.
The connector has been tested to IP65 and IP67, both when mated and with its captive sealing caps in place. A remote indication of whether the connector is mated can be provided with an optional microswitch.
The device is rated to 1000 V and the rated
current is 530 A. Plug and socket are colour coded, and accept cable with cross-sections of 120-240 mm2. High quality screwed glands ensure reliable contact with the cable shield without impairing its integrity.

Deutsch unveils 369 series for harsh environment applications
Deutsch has unveiled the new 369 connector series. Designed to be used in a wide range of applications, including civil aerospace cabin systems, it is based on the proven Deutsch ARINC 809/EN4165 single module connector. It is suitable for applications where shielding is not required and fewer contacts are needed - there are three standard layouts; 3, 6 and 9 way. The connectors have been designed so that each mated half can be configured with either male or female contacts, so doubling the number of available keying configurations and ensuring that the contacts on the powered side of the system are electrically protected. The aerospace/military standard AS39029 gold-plated contacts can be easily extracted and reinserted from the rear of the connector with standard tooling.
Installation and maintenance of cabling is simple, quick and error-proof with a range of five individually colour-coded keying options. The 369 is particularly suitable for blind-mating or low visibility conditions with the scoop-proof interface preventing damage to contacts. The button latch mechanism ensures that the connectors can be quickly and accurately installed, giving an audible feedback of positive locking. Mounting is

Molex has developed the first single port PoE+ Power Source Equipment (PSE), single port magnetic jack in accordance to the IEEE802.3at standard. Based on the RJ45 jack and backwards compatible with the previous PoE IEEE802.3af standard, the PoE+ PSE single port magnetic jack, series 85759, is a complete, plug-and-play module that provides engineers with a simplified design process and easy migration path from using standard power supplies to fully integrated PoE+ capability. “Prior to the introduction of the new PoE+ PSE single port magnetic jack, implementing PoE or PoE+ for a single port application required developing a discrete solution on the customer’s board using custom controller silicon,” explains Diarmuid Cullinan, Product Manager Integrated Products at Molex. “Power must be isolated from signal and significant design effort is required to protect the customer board from electro-magnetic interference (EMI) and electro- static discharge (ESD) while achieving all IEEE802.3at requirements.” The PSE-ICM offers the simplest solution for the design of a single port PSE. Eliminating complex design and testing provides OEMs with a faster time-to-market, reduced investment and lower direct and associated purchasing and production costs.
The footprint of the Molex PoE+ PSE single port magnetic jack is designed to optimise the separation distance of the signal and LED pins from the PoE circuitry, significantly reducing the complexity of PCB routing. The module has an external reset feature and capability to set maximum PoE class requirements (maximum power delivery allowed). Multiple LED configurations and colours are available, including single and bi-colour. PoE+ is the new IEEE802.3at standard. It
provides the opportunity to increase port-power output to 30 watts, when set to Class 4. It supersedes the 15 watt (Class 0 to 3) IEEE802.3af standard, which was released 2004.

Coax cables meet latest demands of broadcast industry
achieved simply and inexpensively with a cable- tie which also prevents inadvertent un-mating. The connectors are fully sealed at both the cable and the mating interface, making them suitable for use in areas with high levels of moisture. Rated at IP67 the connectors feature excellent fluid resistance, vibration tolerance and temperature rating (-55 to +175 degrees Celsius).
The connectors are manufactured from a high performance composite thermoplastic material which conforms to the low smoke, toxicity and flammability requirements of the aerospace industry. The 369 series is also complemented by a range of accessories including easy-fit backshells.

Quadrant has announced that it is the exclusive UK agent and stocking distributor for the Berkenhoff & Drebes (Bedea) range of high quality coaxial cables that have been designed to provide for the high signal densities and increased reception quality that are required from the diverse sources of regional, national, and international TV and radio channels. Due to their constant characteristics over a
wide frequency range Bedea antenna cables are suitable for conventional antenna systems, terrestrial receivers and modern satellite systems. Included in the range is the CATV 75ohm
Telass B cable, a light weight, heavy duty cable, suited for underground and indoor laying. Its construction of a PE, cellular PE or PE air dielectric and wrapped copper foil outer conductor ensures a light weight product while the use of high-grade polyethylene, which is
resistant to ageing and stress-cracking, provides virtually unlimited service life with unchanging attenuation values. These cables are also longitudinally watertight and mechanically stable. Bedea cables are manufactured to
international and European standards and meet, where necessary, the requirements of EN 50117, EN 50 083, and IEC 61196- 1. The cables are also available in flame retardant, non-corrosive (FRNC) versions.
