Power Management I Product News MWS65 AC-DC power supply from TDK-Lambda

TDK-Lambda UK has unveiled the 65 watt MWS65 series of open-frame, medical AC-DC power supplies. With 4kVac reinforced input to output isolation and output to ground isolation of 1500Vac, all the models in the MWS65 series comply with UL/EN60601-1 Editions 2 & 3 safety approvals for medical equipment and with the convenience of onboard dual fusing are suitable for use in B (Body) and BF (Body Floating) type medical applications.

Designed to combine high efficiency and high power density, the MWS65 has less than 0.3W no load input power. With an industry standard footprint of 2 x 4 inches and very low 25.4 mm (1 inch) profile, the MWS65 is a compact, convection cooled unit that is also suited for use in light industrial equipment, Point-of-Sale terminals and displays, Test & Measurement and Broadcast applications. Operating from a universal 90 to 264Vac input, the MWS65 power supply is offered in 5 models with nominal outputs of 5V (11A), 12V (5A), 15V (4.4A), 24V (2.8A) and 48V (1.4A), which are user adjustable by ±10%. With a flat efficiency curve of up to 89%, from 20 to 100% load, the MWS65 can be operated at full load from -20 to 50°C ambient temperature and up to

3-phase DIN-Rail power supplies from Powersolve can be ATEX certified

+70°C with suitable derating. Overvoltage and overcurrent protection is standard. CE marked in accordance with the LV Directive and delivered with a 3-year warranty, the MWS65 carries a host of safety agency approvals, including UL/CSA/EN60950-1, EN50178 (OV II) and UL/EN60601-1, as well as compliance to EN5011/EN5022-B, FCC Class B and VCCI-B for both conducted and radiated EMI.

Diodes Inc. has expanded its range of DiodeStar products with the introduction of two new 600V DiodeStar rectifiers targeted at Power Factor

Correction (PFC) boost diode applications. The DSR6V600P5 and the DSR6U600P5 are housed in Diodes’ proprietary powerDI5 package, a thermally efficient low-profile small-form-factor package, which enables the design of thinner and cooler products. With an off-board profile of 1.1mm, the ultra small powerDI5 package is 52% thinner than the industry standard DPak and occupies just 43% of the board space. In addition, it offers significantly lower thermal resistance (Rthj-c), thus enabling higher density designs.

The devices have been optimised for use in

PFC circuits that operate in Continuous Conduction Mode (CCM), the DSR6V600P5 features low reverse recovery time (Trr) and reverse recovery charge (Qrr) to ensure that boost diode reverse recovery losses are kept to a minimum. Similarly, the DSR6U600P5 has been tuned for both low forward voltage drop (VF) and low Trr in order to meet the compromise requirements of those PFC circuits operating under Boundary Conduction Mode (BCM). Both the DSR6V600P5 and DSR6U600P5

feature a typical softness factor of 0.7, to ensure soft switching with decreased electrical noise that

can lead to a reduction of EMI shielding and snubber circuits for simplified design and lower component count.

These new high voltage rectifiers are particularly suitable for use in high density Switched Mode Power Supplies (SMPS) for LED TVs and adaptors, and are also ideal as re- circulation diodes in High Intensity Discharge (HID) lighting applications.
