ultrafast laser for medical devices and more
the s-Pulse HP ultrafast laser, from Amplitude Systemes, is designed to process medical devices such as stents, percutaneous valves, catheters or even electrodes. It can cut cobalt- chrome and nitinol stents, as well as polymer stents, with no heat effects and thus without changing material properties. As a result, the shape-memory capacity of the alloy will remain unchanged. the s-Pulse HP generates
ultra-short pulses under 500 femtoseconds, enabling the processing of stents and brain micro stents without any burrs,
Fibre-coupled multi-bar modules
Dilas, the diode laser company, now offers higher-power, fibre-coupled, multi-bar modules operating at 1940nm. Dilas’ fibre-coupled, multi-
bar modules feature a compact footprint. these modules deliver 30W through 600µm core diameter fibre, with a low numerical aperture of NA 0.22 and WPe of >10 per cent. these designs are based on industry standard, conductively- cooled bars, which are optically stacked and polarisation coupled. the product requires only industrial
water for cooling. custom wavelengths are
available upon request. these modules are ideal for direct diode applications, such as welding of transparent plastics, medical or defence.

recasting or micro-cracking. the stent keeps all its original properties such as radial strength and the ability to twist itself inside the coronary arteries. the s-Pulse HP is a versatile
equipment offering – with the same laser – high energy capabilities (up to 2mJ) for thick stents, but also high repetition rate (up to 300kHz) for high cutting speed. this technology strongly
improves the throughput in stent manufacturing by reducing post processing. the s-Pulse HP is available with infra-red, green and UV output.

small unit ideal for integration
Laser Quantum has announced its new excel laser model, a cW 532nm laser that is capable of up to 2W while maintaining noise at <0.5 per cent rMS. the excel is so small it fits in the palm of any user's hand. Its new smd12 power supply allows operation in power or current
1kW laser for industrial use
rugby-based JK Lasers has introduced its 1kW fibre laser, the JK1000FL, for industrial applications including cutting, welding and drilling applications. the JK1000FL can incorporate
up to four fibres, allowing beam- switch time-share and energy
mode, with power stability of <0.4 per cent. the excel’s design, its low requirements for temperature control and long warranty periods make it appropriate for scientific applications and integration into other instruments. Applications include PIV, ophthalmology and other microscopy.

sharing. these features allow system load and unload times to be eliminated, and multiple welds to be carried out simultaneously. the JK1000FL uses FiberView
software, pulse shaping and its JK Scan Head system uses dedicated positioning software for improved accuracy.
