Electronics laser eyewear for pilots

elliot Scientific now distributes the Laser- Gard aviator laser eyewear, manufactured by Sperian and aimed at civilian pilots. Laser pointer beams cause distracting

glare and pose a temporary flash-blindness hazard to pilots and security personnel. As laser attacks on aircraft are doubling each year worldwide – with helicopter and civilian pilots at a higher risk – elliot Scientific is introducing Laser-Gard aviator eyewear to offer more protection than high-end designer sunglasses selling at the same price point. Although high-quality sunglasses provide

UV and glare protection, only Sperian's know-how in combining narrow band notch laser dyes can produce the ultimate in safety eyewear, designed specifically for personnel who may be exposed to laser pointers. www.elliotscientific.com

Driver circuit for laser diodes Laser components has introduced its new LSc- 035 driver circuit for laser diodes. the inexpensive unit was developed for n-type cW laser diodes with a maximum operating current of 300mA. the wide-ranging supply voltage of up to 15V

allows the operation of blue, red, and NIr laser diodes. A protective circuit shields the laser diodes from damage, resulting from eSD, high temperatures and current peaks. It safely filters out the transient characteristics of the supply voltage. In case of a malfunction, the circuit instantly

inhibits the supply. only by reconnecting the voltage will the circuit operate, providing time to

Multi-channel polarisation controller

Phoenix Photonics, the UK-based fibre optics specialist, has unveiled a new multi-channel polarisation controller. the controller will give its users a 'plug and play' capability as they look to manage polarisation issues in up to four independent channels simultaneously. the controller is the first product in its Firebird

range of instrumentation equipment as it looks to further develop its offering to meet customer demands. www.phoenixphotonics.com/

positioning equipment precision linear stages

Newport corporation has introduced a new series of FMS precision linear stages. the motion control stages are designed for use in surface profiling, tribology and contact (stylus) and non-contact metrology (white light interferometry). the stainless steel stages permit high straightness and flatness, exceptional thermal stability and outstanding bi-directional and uni-directional repeatability. Highly reliable and robust, the anti-creep crossed roller bearings enable extremely smooth motion with minimal noise. Ideal for surface metrology applications,

Newport’s FMS linear stages are available in three travel options: 100, 200, and 300mm. the new precision linear stages can be ordered with either a Dc or a stepper motor. they are

fully-compatible with Newport’s line of eSP integrated controller/driver products, including the single axis SMc100, the three-axis eSP301, and the high– performance eight-axis XPS universal controller. the small footprint, all-steel

construction ensures a highly accurate and stable platform with exceptional flatness and straightness at speeds of up to 100mm/s, ideal for surface profiling and microstructure characterisation. other applications include scribing, micro-machining, and delay lines. www.newport.com
