INDUSTRY FACES
Eric Treiber Represents Industry in Washington D.C. Most people find a way to break up the week by go-
ing out to dinner or seeing a movie. Eric Treiber took a trip to Washington, D.C. to be a guest of the Speaker of the House of Representatives. Treiber, president and CEO of Chicago White Metal Casting (CWM), Bensenville, Ill., was invited, along with 12 others, to be a guest of Republican John Boehner at President Obama’s speech to a joint session of Congress on Sept. 8. “Thirteen ‘job creators’ were chosen by Speaker
Boehner…to get the word out about the intense chal- lenges we face trying to grow our businesses in order to create jobs in a struggling economy, while at the same time having to divert financial resources to meet ever-increasing regulatory requirements,” Treiber said. As new regulations are proposed, Treiber said he has to be conscious of what will affect his facility and his 240 employees, such as a proposal that would have set the air particulate quality standard in the factory between 12 and 14 parts per billion of particulate matter, lower than the current standard of 15 parts per billion. Treiber believes he was invited to President Obama’s speech because of his strong and growing relationship with Congressman Peter Roskam. “Those who take the time to carry a sincere and
well-constructed message to policy makers stand a much better chance of affecting change,” Treiber said. “The North American diecasting industry has engaged in this practice for decades and there have been numerous successes in Washington over the years that resulted from ongoing efforts by dedicated industry leaders.” Treiber was appointed to chief executive officer
and president of CWM in January 2010 and is the third generation of his family to head the company, which was founded by his grandfather. A graduate of
