maybe two days a week for a while. Eventually I got up to three days a week, which is pretty much where I am now. I didn’t want to go under the knife to begin with but I had to. I’ve always seen myself as invincible and the surgery kind of took a little of that from me. But by taking it easy over the last few years I feel like I’ve let my body heal and really have that feeling back. And if I ever wanted to step back onstage again, I know I have to be 100%, that’s the only way I do things.


FLEX: So does that mean we will see you back onstage at the Pro World Masters on 10th December? RC: I know I get blasted for being vague about this, but I really do want to compete again. As I said, as long as my back feels like I can go at it 100%, you will see me onstage


again. I visit the doctors regularly so I hope to be back onstage soon. But my health is number one.


FLEX: But you are an 8-time Mr. Olympia. What are you trying to prove? RC: To be honest I’m not trying to prove anything. Bodybuilding is my life. It’s my hobby. It is fun for me. Plus I have fans throughout the world that want to see me onstage. Even if I’m not in my prime, I know in my heart I can have fun and still hang with some of these young guns.


FLEX: How will your preparation for this show differ from those in the past? RC: Well, I certainly wont be squatting 800 pounds. I won’t lift as heavy because I don’t need to. I have all the mass I need and do not want another injury. I really hated having surgery and I’ll do everything in my power to avoid that happening again. I still do just about everything, but I can’t do squats or deadlifts no more since I had back surgery. I can still row, but I can’t do anything where I hold up all that weight with my lower
