TESTIMONIAL
Hi, my name is Nadine and I am a Newly Qualified Teacher. I was living in Wales until April this year. Before Easter I made a decision to move to the West Midlands where my mum was living, as I wasn’t having much luck finding teaching work where I was. I first contacted Eyears regarding positions which they had advertised online via email. They quickly got in touch with me and began the application process. I explained my situation and discussed when I would be available for an interview. Then once I was settled I was contacted by Laura, my personal consultant, and invited in for an interview a few days later. I was made to feel very welcome and comfortable at the interview. Laura even made sure that I was happy with my photo for my e-profile!
My application and CRB were sorted quickly once Laura had received my references. But as I had been working in Wales I was registered with the GTCW, so I couldn’t begin teaching here until I was registered with the GTCE. Laura was very helpful trying to sort this change over and was able to offer me some work asa teaching assistant in the interim period, which didn’t require me to be registered so I was able to get straight into school.
As I currently have no car I have had to rely on public transport. Laura showed me a very helpful website which has enabled me to find the best methods to get to the schools I am working at. I managed to get lost on one occasion and thankfully Laura ‘rescued’ me and got me safely to school!
After my first visits to new schools I am contacted at the end of the day to see how I got on. I am always given plenty of feedback, thankfully positive, which is great to receive as a new teacher and in a new area. If I have a query or concern I can call anytime during office hours and speak to Laura or any other member of staff to help with my query. If the person I need to speak to isn’t available I am always offered help by the member of staff I am talking to. If they can’t help they will pass on a message to the relevant person and they will then contact me back when they are available. When Laura was on annual leave I was informed beforehand and given another consultant, Richard for this period. Richard is equally as helpful and kind as Laura and allowed me to feel at ease considering I had only really dealt with Laura prior to this occasion.
I have been offered lots of work in a variety of schools which I need to enable myself to gain experience of teaching in this area. I have been offered support staff work which has helped me to get into schools where I was later offered teaching work. All shifts as confirmed are either by email or text so I don’t get anything wrong. My requirements for work are always met, if I mention that I particularly enjoy working in a specific school I usually get offered more work within that school at later dates. I have always been paid correctly and I receive a payslip before payday via email. This is great as I can always print a copy if necessary and I don’t have to worry about losing payslips - which sometimes does happen and usually when you really need them! If I miss one of my timesheets for the week previously worked I am contacted on the Monday to see if I could get the missing timesheet to them before the end of the day.
I am able to log online to my Eyears account log easily to retrieve timesheets, view and amend my availability etc. Communication between me and Eyears is very good and particularly personal too.
This has been a great start for me having recently moved here and I am very grateful to Eyears for what they have done for me. I would definitely recommend Eyears to other teachers and Support staff that are looking for work.
