A topical highlight of the IBC2011 experience is a series of free Exhibition Business Briefings specially formulated to help you understand and dissect the implications and possibilities of the IBC Connected World. Within these sessions you will learn from the experiences of companies such as Cisco, Ericsson, IBM and TV Genius who are already building businesses at the intersection of broadcast and broadband. The Exhibition Business Briefings take place in Room G102/G103 which is easily accessible from the IBC Connected World in Hall 13. Turn right at the top of the stairs next to the IBC Pub. This is a summary of what will be presented during the Exhibition Business Briefings, correct at 16th August 2011. 10:00-10:30 Content consumers are now in charge of your brand: bringing science to the art of marketing. Speaker: Jeff Smith, VP of communications sector solutions, IBM Software Group. facing our planet is the emergence of the ‘networked society’, a natural result of the combination of mobility, broadband, the cloud, applications and services. The ‘networked society’ has the potential to be an empowered world, with more jobs and greater prosperity for people in both developed and developing economies. It presents a more sustainable future, with lower energy consumption and lower harmful gas emissions. With greater access to broadband and a new propensity towards collaboration it can be a healthier, better educated and more richly entertained society, where information and entertainment are enjoyed anywhere, any time, any place and on any device. have a critical role to play in the realisation, the progress and the success of the ‘networked society’. We believe that the ‘networked society’ will be televised - on air, onscreen, online and on the move. This one-hour session with senior Ericsson


management will look at the ‘networked society’, what it means to consumers and to the TV industry. We will explore how Ericsson Consumer Labs research helps the company and its customers understand what consumers want - and shapes their response. The session will examine how content owners can maximise the value of their content in this new multi-screen world, and how service providers can create the most compelling and differentiated experiences for today’s connected consumer.
