desert, we will be seeing him in the "B" class for 2012. Thanking Papa and Nana Racing, Parents, Kawasaki of Simi Valley, and his brother for letting him ride his 450 and all his supporters.
Ziptyracing.com's Tony Bienert and John Burr Cycles Phil Dowell put on a great show in the 30+ “A" at a few of the rounds and round eight was no exception. Sitting on top of the class at the finish of moto one, the former Speedway Champion Bienert was in third be- hind Zak Crabb and the leading Dowell in moto two. Pushing the pace he swept by Crabb on lap two and applied the heat to Dowell passing him on lap three for the moto and overall win, Dowell (2-2) second, and Crabb (3-3) third in moto and overall. Although he placed third in the final points the racer of many hats has had a lengthy career in several disciplines. He will be dialing his participation down as he focuses on helping his daughter and son in their racing careers. Fred Alonzo has been racing and riding Quads for

series has ventured from Hesperia, Taft, Antelope Val- ley, Gorman, Adelanto, and concluded in the east River- side county hamlet of Anza. For this round we will cover racing action and talk to a few series champions that clinched or were on the verge of their respective titles at this round.
KSV/Motul's Gina Alvarez is the next bright light Kiernan McDonald
on the local Women's motocross scene. In 2010 Alvarez raced her first So Cal AMA motocross series and cap- tured the 2010 Women's "B" title, winning eight of nine rounds, placing eleventh in the 250 "C". Moving up to the "A" for 2011 the smiling speedster torqued out an- other dominating performance and her second title in a consecutive year, she also holeshotted at least one 250 "C" moto going on to a fifth in the final points. In 2012 she will be contending for Women's Gold Cup title, and making a hard drive for an AMA Amateur title warming up by racing selected Amateur Nationals. One footnote, she raced a 2009 Yamaha YZ250 for the first time at round eight and nine and rode it like she has been on it for years. Keep an eye on Alvarez she will be going places. Darren Lunsford did not overwhelm the competi- tion, he just applied determination and perseverance to wrangle in titles in the Open "C" and 250 "C." There was no let up in the competition and he had battles at every round but never gave in and just became stronger and faster as the series progressed. The seventeen- year-old works two jobs and goes to school full time burning the candle at both ends his youthful energy came in handy as he sat on the box in every round. Riding for eleven years and racing for five, mostly in the
six years. Alonzo and fellow ATV "A" racer Brett Bailey, finished first and second respectively in the overall and final series points, but their competition against each other seemed more like a fun day than white knuckle racing. In moto one they stopped intentionally before the checkers to allow ATV "C" racer Brian Bond to have a moment in the sun. As they waited near the scoring

table, Bond rolled by seemingly perplexed why the two were sitting there allowing him to pass. Although it did not take him long to figure it out that he was the moto one overall winner as he thrust his left hand in the air, a great gesture of encouragement from Alonzo and Bailey. Alonzo started his ATV racing at the arena-cross venue in Taft on a screaming two-stroke Banshee and
