fter eight years of “horses only” on the dirt at the Cal Expo State Fairgrounds race track, Eddie
Mulder’s West Coast Vintage Dirt Track series was welcomed back with open arms on this Sunday following Saturday night’s AMA GNC mile. A heartfelt thank you went to Bob Bellino and Circle Bell Racing from one hundred and ninety riders. Those riders started showing up at the gate excited to be on the mile track well before the 8 A.M registration time. The day started with perfect cool and breezy racing weather warming up to the mid
nineties in the afternoon. Thanks to the generous donations of many and excellent track preparation by Pearson, the track was perfectly groomed and smooth equipped with an air fence for safety. Series sponsors Rod Lake and Digger Helm were both in attendance to enjoy the day’s events and as always Motion Pro and K&N Filters provided some wonderful gifts and continue their generous financial support of the WCVDTS. We are proud and grateful for the continued generosity of all our series sponsors. A special treat for this race came from Triumph America who generously donated a 2011 Triumph Tiger 800 for use as the safety sweep vehicle.
The day’s riders included participants from Edmonton and Calgary, Canada, Idaho, Nevada, Arizona, Washington, New Mexico and cities all over northern and southern California. A great day was had by all and many
exclamations of joy, awe and once in a lifetime experiences were shared all day. The ambulance never moved and with the tremendous support shown, hopefully there will be repeat Sacramento Vintage Miles for years to come.
