“My patriotism drawing depicts a wife mourning over her husband who was killed in the war, and her son who is left fatherless holding his funeral flag. In the background, there is a flag reflecting soldiers saluting with honor for the fallen soldier.”

SARAH WHITE Sponsored by Auxiliary 8790 Houston, Texas

“I have had

a great sense of patriotism since I walked amongst the graves of

those who served with incredible heroism and paid the ultimate price to preserve our freedom. I visited Arlington National Cemetery in Washington, D,C., on a school field trip several years ago and realized how many selfless sacrifices were made to defend our country. I salute the greatest generation who remember the past and whose bravery created a foundation for future generations. This painting is a tribute to our patriotic heritage. Freedom comes at a great cost.”
