ERIN O’BRIEN Sponsored by Auxiliary 9557 Fountain Valley, California

Of all the ways United States citizens may choose to act out their belief in a democratic society, the right and duty to vote is one of the most important and perhaps one of the most underappreciated. Erin chose to depict ordinary Americans exercising that extraordinary patriotic liberty in her painting, “The Voice of Freedom.” With only acrylics, canvas and imagination, she captures three Americans from different walks of life converging at an election site to cast their ballots. “My artwork expresses the importance of everyone using their voice in the United States,” Erin wrote, “including the youth, by voting. It is important that all Americans take advantage of their freedom to have a say, as so many brave men and women have sacrificed their lives to give us that freedom.”
