Lowtide DMK LLC has developed an easy

and simple way to connect your mobile device to your boat with the DMK Informed Captain. The Informed Captain allows the user to access a vessel’s onboard data and display it on a mobile device. The system consists of a box that is hard wired to the vessel’s electronics and a mobile device application that connects to the box. The raw data is transferred across the link between the box and the mobile device. Once received on the mobile device, the data is then parsed and displayed on various applications.

When you least expect it – whether

you are caught in an unpredicted rain storm, tip a canoe or leave the flow valve unlocked on your hydration bladder and lay your pack on top of it – your gear often is exposed to wetness in the outdoors. Unlike your traditional waterproof matches that can be difficult to light and burn out quickly, Industrial Revolution’s new Stormproof Match Kit contains their

the box sends data packets via a wireless connection. The data from the boat is then sorted and displayed via the DMK mobile app. The vessel’s navigational data, such as depth, boat speed, wind speed, and GPS position can be displayed as well as vessel monitoring information such as engine data and tank condition. In addition to working with DMK apps, the informed captain enhances the use of other apps such as i-NavX. The Informed Captain works on

the Apple iPad, iPhone, and iPod touch. Apps for Android users are in development. Check DMKYacht.com

Stormproof Matches that are easy to light, have a 15 second burn time and have a longer length for added safety. The Stormproof Matches are so water resistant they even remain lit after being submerged in water. The kit contains 25 matches, three strikers and the waterproof container that weighs less than one ounce. Contact www.industrialrev.com

trim the sail, reach back and slip the hook up the sheet close to the winch. This can be repeated as many times as necessary. Once the sail is set, unhook the tailing hook and make the sheet fast to the cleat. These tailing hooks can be used on

any winch, even halyard winches on the mast. Just follow the same principles as sheet winches. A pair of tailing hooks is handy to have as they free up a hand. Check www.tailinghook.com
