Record attendance at G2E Asia 2011 a rms the trade show’s importance to gambling sector


ew high-tech slot machines, sleek LCD screens and tons of new


games fi lled the fl oor at last month’s G2E Asia 2011. Once again, the show brought the best products in the gam- ing industry to Macau, while some of the brightness minds in the sector were sharing their insights during the conference programme. According to the organisers, this


edition of G2E Asia enjoyed the biggest attendance so far since the event’s in- ception in 2007. Reed Exhibitions and the American Gaming Association re- ported a 25 percent increase in the to- tal number of visitors, with the event welcoming 5,700 industry profession-


als. T ese fi gures refl ect the expan- sion of gaming throughout the Asian region. T e exhibition featured 120 exhib-


itors, a similar fi gure to last year, from 23 countries. Of those, one quarter were fi rst-time exhibitors. T e conference programme at-


tracted more than 700 delegates, who learned about the latest trends


in


Asian and global gaming from more than 55 industry experts. “T ere is no better way to celebrate

president. “T is is our record year on numbers of gaming professionals who visited the event, reaffi rming our posi- tioning as the most important annual gaming industry event in the region.” One of the highlights of this year’s


show was the G2E Asia Visionary Award, which recognises leaders who have made an indelible impact on the industry in Asia. T e award went to Sheldon Adelson, chairman of Las Vegas Sands and Sands China, for his role in the development of Cotai and, more recently, in Singapore. Next year’s event is scheduled to


take place between May 22 and 24, once again at the Venetian Macao.
