INTERNATIONAL CODE COUNCIL
Experienced Green Building Expert to Lead ICC-ES Environmental Programs
Rob Brooks, a Certified Green Professional (CGP), has joined ICC Evaluation Service, LLC as the Director of ICC-ES Environmental Programs to increase its expertise in green building and energy-efficient services, and better serve customer needs.

Brooks has more than 26 years of industry experience and brings extensive knowledge in implementing product acceptance strategies that provide sustainable, energy-efficient solutions in the green building marketplace. He has served as Weyerhaeuser’s Director of Green Building Programs, and worked with manufacturers to show their customers how products comply with major green codes, standards and green rating systems.

“The awareness of sustainability in the built environment is already here with the International Green Construction Code (IgCC) and International Energy Conservation Code (IECC),” said Mike Beaton, ICC-ES Senior Vice President. “ICC-ES is building processes to help manufacturers demonstrate code compliance, and make reasonable and justifiable claims that their customers, in turn, can use to make informed choices.”

“I am excited to be on board with ICC-ES and look forward to working with manufacturers to identify their new role in the rapidly expanding field of green and energy-efficient codes and standards,” Brooks said. “Manufacturers and distributors want a credible organization to bring order to the myriad of green and energy claims among the hundreds of green brands in the market place, especially with respect to the codes. “I intend to build on the existing foundation that ICC-ES has successfully established and create new services to the green and energy markets. We’ll help manufacturers take the next logical step toward the goal of sustainability.”

Brooks has been involved in the Wood Industry Green Building Strategy Group (GBSG) – Codes / Standards Committee, the American Wood Council’s Green Building and Fire Subcommittees, and American Society of Testing and Materials (ASTM) – D07 Wood and E60 Sustainability Committees. He holds both a bachelor’s and master’s degree in Wood Science and Technology from Colorado State University.

“I am looking forward to branching out into the sustainability interests of other materials as well,” Brooks said.
