Message from The YMCAs of Québec Foundation

Investing in future generations

What a successful year for the YMCAs of Québec Foundation! Thanks to its various wellness, education, and leadership activities, the Foundation contributed to the success of over 30,000 Québec children and youth in 2010, once again confirming its status as a partner of choice for volunteers and donors who share the same objective.

After having placed a precautionary moratorium on the distribution of funds due to the economic uncertainty occurring in 2009, we are back in full swing with the funding of a dozen or so projects that directly impact the well-being of our children and youth. Keep in mind that effective governance and the healthy management of finances are a priority for the Foundation, and that our committees ensure the smooth running of activities.

The Annual Golf Tournament and the Peace Medal Ceremony, two of the year’s major successes, are a testament to our efforts. We are also particularly proud of having offered a greater number of children and youth in financial need with the opportunity to participate in our programs, such as an outdoor experience at Camp Y Kanawana. In fact, all of our volunteers and donors firmly believe that all children, regardless of their financial situation, should be active and healthy.

Finally, we would like to highlight the diligent work of the 20 members of the Board of Directors of the Foundation, the 30 or so volunteers and our 2,500 donors, without whom our actions would not have had such an impact on the people and communities we serve. There’s no greater reward than to see the light shining in the eyes of those we help! Thank you all so much!
