fitness 2.0 The YMCA launched ymcaquebec.tv, a free website that provides fitness tips for the general public! The 2-minute video clips feature YMCA fitness trainers who present a series of exercises that can be done in the conditioning room, at home, or at the office. Similarly, the YMCA also entered the social media realm with its new Facebook page. Web surfers can now access additional fitness tips and information on the latest social and community events at the Y.

exemplary partnership The Cartierville Y centre will now be housing the Hôpital du Sacré-Coeur de Montréal's Centre de réadaptation cardio-respiratoire Jean-Jacques-Gauthier. Aside from doubling the J-J-Gauthier centre's capacity, this collaboration will also help improve patient care by providing access to the expertise of Y fitness trainers in rehabilitation and the acquisition of healthy lifestyle habits, as well as by offering an integrated therapeutic approach adapted to everyday life. new offerings at the international Language School! Mandarin made its debut at the Language School in January 2010! An intensive 12-day English language camp at Camp Y Kanawana was also created. The programming included second-language English classes in the morning, and sports or recreational activities the rest of the time. Very promising! Another great success was the new session of English classes offered on Saturdays from mid-April to mid-June for youth aged 9 to 17. A final positive was the increased number of participants enrolled in our training programs following a variety of promotional trips and meetings with agents worldwide, including a first-time presence for the School in Chile.

ever-increasing participation in our training programs! Over 2,900 budding fitness instructors, national lifeguards, and first-aiders received their training through the YMCA’s Health, Fitness and Recreation sector in 2010. Training programs that are becoming increasingly popular!
