N
ow it’s June, and with summer in full swing, more people are heading outdoors and getting their exercise regime back on track, making now the perfect time to purchase new footwear. The team at Footwear Today has spent
the past two months both on-road and off-road testing sports and wellness footwear in a bid to find shoes that will help make your customers look and feel their best. All the styles featured in Editor’s Choice on page 30. received top marks from our team! Internet shopping will continue to grow strongly this year
in Britain, despite concerns over the economic outlook, and for footwear retailers, this could mean big business. But, with an increasingly techno-savvy customer and online sales continuing to soar, how can footwear retailers best capitalise on this trend and boost revenue? Scott Storey, Managing Director of CTS Retail, offers
advice on online marketing in this month’s issue. More on page 28. Many of you who have read reviews from our intrepid
footwear reporter, Henry Harington, in the past will know that he normally runs on Dartmoor dodging the hazards of rocks, streams and bogs. If you have ever imagined what it would be like for an alien landing on earth, you will come close to the experience Henry has had moving back to live in London. On Dartmoor he has a gate from his garden that takes him
onto the Moor. In London if he doesn’t want to pound the pavements (his knees would rebel!) he has to catch a bus or take the car to somewhere he can run. He is lucky enough to live near the Thames, a ten minute walk, from what is quaintly called the “tow path.” In his latest article – “Poncing along the towpath” - Henry has donned lycra to test UK Gear’s PT-1000, a “1,000 mile road and trail running shoe”. Enjoy!
