Our speakers are leaders within the health- care ICT sector and are at the forefront of innovation and public sector cost savings. The impact of GP commissioning and what form this new system may take will be de- bated by a panel including Justin Whatling, vice chair, strategy and policy, BCS Health and Dr Sid Deshmukh, informatics lead, Bexley Clinical Cabinet GP Consortium. Meanwhile, Avon IM&T Consortium and Southampton Universities Hospital NHS Trust will discuss the future for mobile health and what plans the health sector have for the growing use of mobile internet and technology in healthcare. Paul Jones, chief technology offi cer at the Informatics Directorate of the Department of Health will ask about the social and cultural chang- es required from patients and clinicians to deliver a true information revolution. He will also explore how effective patient re- cords can deliver effi ciencies, improved ser- vice and transform our health sector.


Lord Filkin will end the fi rst day of the conference with a keynote speech asking if we can get bigger savings, better value and better outcomes through effective procure- ment. The second day will close with a live- ly conversation between Michael White, as- sistant editor of the Guardian and Baroness Hanham, parliamentary under-secretary of state at the Department for Communities and Local Government.

High-level strategic keynote debates will also take place on both days. Leading thinkers including Allison Ogden-Newton, chief executive of Social Enterprise Lon- don, Dominic Campbell from FutureGov and Chris Chant, interim executive direc- tor for digital at the Cabinet Offi ce, will discuss how the way we think about public services is changing as new delivery mod- els and organisations are established and how public services need to adapt as in- formation technology changes the way we live, behave and operate.
