Boddington heads up Future’s video team


FirstPlay producer promoted Xbite gets new buyer  Goddard joins City Interactive Nimrod picks up Sony music licensing boss Babel hires audio director


FUTURE l DAVID BODDINGTON has been promoted to head of video production for games.


This newly-created role puts him in charge of video production across all of Future’s games publications. Boddington first joined Future in 2008 as producer of on-console PS3 show FirstPlay. He has previously worked for the likes of Sky, Endemol and The Discovery Channel. “Future has always been at the cutting edge of games media, and I’m very excited by the challenge of producing the highest quality editorial video and delivering something extra to gamers everywhere,” he said.

XBITE l DAN WHITEHEAD has been appointed senior buyer for the indie retailer.


He leaves his former position at Music Box Leisure and has over 15 years experience in the video games industry. He will work alongside the head of Xbite’s buying team SARAH STARBUCK. Xbite was featured in this year’s Top 20 Indies list published by MCVthree weeks ago.


CITY INTERACTIVE l JONATHAN GODDARD has joined City’s ranks as global PR and marketing manager. Goddard’s most recent position was senior international PR manager for EA Games. He spent four and a half years working at Electronic Arts, before which he was technology editor for Metro.


In his new role, he will be responsible for leading PR and marketing for City Interactive’s upcoming titles, including


the sequel to the best-selling Sniper: Ghost Warrior. “City Interactive is going places. Fast. I couldn’t be happier to be a part of the growth that is sure to happen over the coming years,” said Goddard.


NIMROD l SERGIO PIMENTEL has joined audio production house Nimrod as director of music and licensing. He previously established the music licensing department at SCEE, and has worked on IP such as SingStar, Gran Turismo, LittleBigPlanetand Wipeout. He also led Activision Blizzard’s European department and worked on Guitar Hero, DJ Heroand more.


“I’m extremely excited to be heading up Nimrod’s music supervision arm and working with one of the most talented audio companies in the industry,” he said.


BABEL l The firm has hired HEIDI NEWELL as its new audio director. She will be based in Babel’s Montreal studio, and will be responsible for expanding its audio business. Newell has over 16 years of experience in the games industry, having worked for EA, Big Fish Games and more. Babel CEO RICHARD LEINFELLNER said: “I am very pleased that Heidi has decided to join us as she brings with her a wealth of audio knowledge.”
