PROFILE ON THE DARLING SHOOTERS…

This month I’m delighted to feature some fellow shooters from a few years ago and bring their achievements to the fore. It’s always good to appreciate the successes of your predecessors and this story has the added bonus of still being current, courtesy of the latest member of the family to find the ‘shooting’ gene. Also, it’s always worth remembering that technology and techniques change over time so what our shooters currently have at their disposal and take for granted, were maybe not even in existence just a few years ago.


The family I am featuring are George and


Debbie Darling (nee Lawrence) and their son Kenneth. Debbie and I were shooting air rifle at the same time, but George at that stage was highly and successfully involved in his coaching career so it’s been really interesting for me to read up on his own shooting achievements.


Pistol shooting seriously began for George in 1972 when he joined the National Squad having qualified by having shot impressively enough to gain a place in the England team at the Home International at Cardiff. I have said it before, but for those who never knew those years when the British Airgun Championships were held at the
