Outlook Brightens for Plastic Solar Cells: In early April, Mitsubishi Chemical reportedly set a new efficiency record, producing organic solar cells with a 9.2% conversion efficiency. Many researchers in the field are confident that the figure could soon top 10% and possibly reach 15%.

Together with the Danube University Krems and the University of Natural Resources and Applied Life Sciences Vienna, Vienna University of Tech- nology has developed a course in nanomedicine and nanotechnology which imparts interdisciplinary and practice-oriented knowledge in this sub-spe- ciality. The course will start in the autumn of 2011.
Three universities are contributing their specialised knowledge to the new part-time program named “MSc NanoBiosciences & NanoMedicine”, which will start in the winter term of 2011. The lectures will be held in Krems and Vienna.
The Master’s program will address interdisciplinary requirements and opportunities in the field of nano- technology.

Researchers at Technion in Haifa, Israel, pre- sents in Science direct experimental observation of disorder-enhanced wave transport in quasicrystals, which contrasts directly with the characteristic sup- pression of transport by disorder. The experiments are carried out in photonic quasicrystals, where we find that increasing disorder leads to enhanced expansion of the beam propagating through the medium. © Science
