ICT - Networking and Communications
The national learning platforms conference 2011
A
ward-winning learning platform provider, Frog, will be hosting the 2011 National Learning Platforms Conference on Tuesday 14 June 2011 at the ICC in Birmingham. The free event is available to school leaders aiming to inspire them to transform education. Recognising that every school is different, delegates will be encouraged to think about where they are in their journey and attend workshops pitched at the appropriate level. Speakers from a variety of schools will offer solid, practical advice on embedding technology to support teaching and learning within the school. They will offer an insight into how their learning platform is demonstrating real impact in their own schools. Speakers come from a range of backgrounds, including secondary schools, primary schools, independent schools, academies and international schools. Delegates can participate using Twitter by adding #frog11 to the end of their post or visit the conference blog at

New online resources E
-learning service vision2learn for schools has launched brand new Level 2 Maths online study resources for 14-19 year old learners in secondary schools.
Written by teachers, for teachers, vision2learn for schools Level 2 Maths online study resources give learners who have had limited achievements in mathematics more confidence and motivation as they provide a vocational approach to the subject. They are equally useful for year 9 and 10 learners to help boost their practical maths skills or as a year 11 'rescue' option for struggling and 'hard-to-reach' learners.
Learning online with engaging, interactive study sessions, helps learners to build their confidence and gain the practical, transferable maths skills they need to succeed.
Many real-life scenarios and practical tasks are included to enable learners to practise and apply their skills in the Application of Number, Statistics and Probability in Vocational Roles, Using Geometry, Measures and Algebra and much more.
Independent online study means learners can master the content at their own pace. Effective online communication and tracking tools enable teachers to check on their progress and offer additional support in the classroom as required. Comprehensive teaching resources are provided.
