3s photonics records 40 per cent turnover growth
The 3S Photonics group has announced a turnover of €25m for the first half of its 2011 fiscal year. This represents a 40 per cent growth in turnover compared to the same period in 2010 when considering the post divestiture product portfolio. With results far outweighing company expectations, the operating income, which was negative in the first half of the 2010 fiscal year, reached €1.05m. ‘Thanks to the excellent results achieved in the
first half of our 2011 fiscal year, we are facing the second half of the year in a very comfortable position and with a certain peace of mind,’ commented Alexandre Krivine, president and CEO. ‘This result can, of course, be partially explained by favourable market conditions, but it
also demonstrates the success of our diversification strategy into the terrestrial pump market and of our cost reduction efforts. Furthermore, it is testimony to the continued trust our customers have in the quality of our products. Our teams can be proud of this recognition and now face two important challenges: increasing output through technological innovation to support the growth of the company and continuing to offer the same level of quality and reliability.’ The company anticipates a consolidated IFRS
turnover of between €50m and €55m for its full fiscal year 2011, which will close on 30 June 2011. The company has also appointed Jean-Michel Bonard as its new managing director for France.
radiant imaging and Zemax Development corporation merge
Radiant Imaging and Zemax Development Corporation, both based in Washington, USA, have completed a merger, backed by capital from Evergreen Pacific Partners, a Washington-based private equity fund. The merger will enable both companies to better serve and grow existing markets for their products, and to create new products to meet growing global demand in the photonics and optics industries. As part of the merger, Paul Caragher, who most recently was president of Tektronix Service Solutions, a leading test and measurement services provider, will become chief executive of the combined companies. for measuring light and colour. Its systems are used in lab and production environments worldwide for products such as flat panel displays, laptops, phones, stadium screens and LED devices. Zemax offers engineers and designers a platform for creating optical systems, including lenses, cameras, projectors, scopes and instruments; its software allows optical developers to quickly optimise designs to maximise performance while meeting cost requirements. ‘We will be able to grow faster and go farther together,’ said Ron Rykowski, founder and CEO of Radiant. ‘With access to capital from Evergreen and economies of
scale, we can develop integrated solutions that deliver increased value to customers and generate new revenue opportunities for the company.’
In the short term, the combined
companies will be located in a single facility in Redmond, Washington and operate under their respective brands, while expanding customer outreach and technical support functions and beginning to integrate their technologies. Founders of both companies are
remaining in executive leadership and product development roles with a goal of dramatic company expansion in the next three to five years through organic growth as well as strategic acquisitions.
