Sleeping soundly
Vango lets SGB Outdoorin on some of the secrets that it says make its tents and sleeping bags ideal to keep you sleeping soundly.
A
good night’s sleep really makes a difference, but not everyone climbs to the top of far away peaks. We know day-to-day adventures can be just as energy sapping. After an energetic day running around with the children you will be just as tired as the extreme adventure seeker.
Choosing the correct sleeping bag will keep you and your family cosy at night, ensuring you wake refreshed, rested and ready for your next adventure.
It is important to think about the following features, although not all are available on all products. The insulating material varies from product-to-product, and each offer different properties. They are also constructed in different ways, which provides different performance. The shell fabric protects the filling from the elements and aids insulation with low air permeability so trapping warm air in the sleeping bag. Performance at either end of the bag is likewise as important, with both the foot of all Vango sleeping bags offering similar technical
performance to
the rest, while the hood closure offers a draw cord and extra panels for a snug and comfortable fit.
And it should have a good zip, ideally with a baffle, as this further aids thermal retention. A zip baffle will also improve comfort for the user by offering protection against the zip when in use. Before you climb into a sleeping bag though, you’ll need to pitch a tent to keep you dry and fully protected from the elements. The Vango family tent range offers a number of features that make them easy to pitch, stable and secure. All have 3000HH water-proofing and a sewn in groundsheet with robust fibreglass or steel poles.
They also include strategically placed Airzone panels to improve air circulation and reduce condensation, orange guylines that can be seen in low light, clear windows for maximum visibility and adjustable pegging.
Internally, the tents feature a pelmet, pockets for storage, mesh doors, door venting and lantern attachment points.
A fire retardant treatment is also applied to the fly and inner tent fabrics to protect them from a flame being placed next to the fabric and then removed. They are not, however, fire-proof
and will burn if an ignition source is placed next to the fabric. Vango’s mountain tent range is a robust line that is designed for more adventurous users. They offer many of the same basic features as family tents, but with additions such as a siliconised flysheet to prevent UV degradation, water absorption and soiling. Colour coded poles allow easy pitching, and internally ‘O’ shaped doors and bathtub groundsheet provide extra comfort. Mountain tents also feature reflective webbing so they can be easily located in the dark and use lightweight alloy poles.
