Making the connection
THE conference is already over. It seems like only last week that I, along with my ITM colleagues, were sat around the table planning the various elements of the event and here we are three weeks on, having collated the results of our survey, already beginning to plan next year’s event! It was important to us this year

that we re-connected with our members and our members connected with each other. Sometimes the logistics, format or the programme of events can mean attendees become disjointed, either from each other or from the event itself. Hosting an event at a venue in the middle of the beautiful Oxfordshire countryside proved to be one of the best ways to reconnect – not with the outside world, as telecommunication challenges soon put paid to that – but in so many ways, spending two days in one location learning, socialising and relaxing. It encouraged everyone to familiarise with the practice again. We all try hard to stay connected to our businesses and not get lost in the flurry of emails and messages, but when we are all so busy it is so easy to miss the opportunity to truly connect with each other.
“We want to take the time to know people in the industry and to help them. After all, that's what an association is all about“
ITM wants to encourage more people to connect with the industry and has introduced a new level of membership called, funnily enough, “ITM Connect”, which invites corporate buyers, suppliers, industry practitioners, travel bookers, PAs and meeting planners (basically all travel and meetings industry professionals!) to connect with the association and thousands of industry peers, at no cost. We want to take the time to know people in the industry and to help them – that is after all what an association is all about. So, if you are an industry professional then you are eligible to become an ITM Connect member and receive access to news updates
and elements of networking and knowledge services through ITM, totally free of charge. We encourage everyone to
make the connection. The more connections you make, the more resources, ideas and advice become available. They represent a personal investment which we know makes an outstanding return. So if you are not engaged yet, connect now. It could turn out to be one of the best things you could do for yourself and your career. Join ITM Connect by visiting www.
