THE launch of a new-look logo and branding heralds the start of a new era for cross-channel rail operator, Eurostar. 'Resonance', 'engaging' and 'movement' were words used to describe the new logo – a silver 'e' with a wavy line – that is now beginning to appear on branding. A £700million fleet of new E320
trains will be delivered from 2014, while existing stock will be refurb- ished as the company begins to spread its wings further across Europe. The operator says some 20million people still take short- haul flights to European cities that are easily accessible by high- speed rail. So with a new fleet that is interoperable on other rail networks, and by using Lille and Brussels as hubs – as well as connecting with other operators – Eurostar believes there is a substantial opportunity for growth. operating to Paris and Brussels and we're synonymous with those two cities. We need to build on that going forward," says Emma Harris, director of sales and marketing at Eurostar. Harris says the company is not afraid of Deutsche Bahn's plans to operate cross-channel services to
London, adding, "There's no history of a deregulated marketplace that shrinks." Research says that travellers
are still uneasy about making connections on international rail journeys, and that 30 to 45 minutes is the optimum time allowed to make the change.
SIXT has become the first car hire company to offer the award-winning Audi A1 to its UK customers. The A1 has already picked up a number of awards – including What Car? Car of the Year 2011 – despite having only been released into the market in November last year.
