ET 2011 PREVIEW

Sustainable solutions: Exhibitor highlights

At this year’s ET event, visitors to the Geotech stand will see five new products. The new Inspectra is a portable gas- leak detector giving an instant response with a laser diode methane leak finder. The Accu-Flo measures landfill gas and biogas pipeline flow and does a zero-calibration self check. The GA3000 is the latest Geotech static gas analyser for landfill gas and biogas designed for easy installation by users and to give reliability and accuracy. A new portable detector for flammable gases, the Gaztex, is for personal protection in potentially explosive atmospheres and joins the Aquaread, a new portable multiparameter water-quality analyser with GPS and data download.

Meanwhile in Brownfield Expo (BEX), Shawcity will be promot- ing its latest products. One of these is the ToxiRAE PID, a tiny and lightweight personal volatile organic vapour monitor. As the ToxiPro is so small and light, workers can simply clip it to their clothing and forget it. Vapour concentrations will be detected and the alarms will provide an immediate warning. Audible, flashing light and vibration alarms are provided. The ToxiRAE will measure volatile organic compounds. Many users will know the specific compound that is being moni-

tored. The response of the ToxiRAE will be differ- ent for most compounds so a library of 190 differ- ent correction factors has been built into the unit. Energys Group, will be exhibiting its range of ener- gy-saving devices at NEMEX including the award- winning Save It Easy lighting converter, a retrofit device that allows T5 energy-efficient fluorescent lamps to be used with the existing light fittings. The Save It Easy 2LED replacement lamp will also be exhibited. This device replaces 2D CFLs with LED equivalents in the existing fittings, cutting energy use and improving lamp lifespan. And in the Sustainable Business section, The Recycling Factory will be displaying information about its recycling services. The company is re- launching its Cash for Schools scheme to give schools an improved incentive to recycle their inkjet cartridges and mobile phones. It has also introduced the recycling of gadgets such as SatNav systems, handheld game consoles, MP3 players and digital cameras for some of its charities.
