Dear Collegiate Triathletes,
On behalf of USA Triathlon, I’d like to welcome you to Tuscaloosa, Ala., for the 2011 USA Triathlon Collegiate National Championship. As you well know, there is no other event that can compare to Collegiate Nationals when it comes to camaraderie and team spirit. Your enthusiasm for the multisport lifestyle is evident, and I’d like to thank you for your support of our sport and organization.
The USA Triathlon staff has worked diligently for months to make sure you enjoy a top-notch race experience, and an event of this scale would not be possible without the backing of the Tuscaloosa community and the University of Alabama.
USA Triathlon would like to thank the many individuals and groups in the Tuscaloosa community that helped to make this event possible: Mayor Walt Maddox; Stephanie Maddox; Robert Ratliff, executive director of the Tuscaloosa Convention and Visitors Bureau; Wendy Riggs, director of the Tuscaloosa Amphitheater; Don Staley, executive director, sports of the Tuscaloosa Tourism and Sports Commission; Tera Tubbs of the Tuscaloosa Department of Transportation; and Gina Johnson of the University of Alabama.
Tuscaloosa has treated USA Triathlon to true Southern hospitality since we first held an event here in 2007, and you can expect the same treatment this weekend. The local community has shown tremendous support to our sport in recent years, and we encourage all of this weekend’s participants to return the favor.
USA Triathlon’s corporate partners and local sponsors also have worked hard to make Collegiate Nationals a showcase event for our organization. We are grateful for their support, as their dedication to multisport helps make events such as this a reality.
Thank you for your commitment to the sport of triathlon and best wishes for a successful race. I hope you achieve all of your goals.
Sincerely,
Rob Urbach
CEO, USA Triathlon
