USA TRIATHLON
COLLEGIATE NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP SCORING RULES
Individual scoring will be done as follows:


1. Athletes will be divided into four divisions for the purposes of individual scoring:
a. Men’s Undergraduate
b. Women’s Undergraduate
c. Men’s Graduate
d. Women’s Graduate


2. The top three overall men and women, both undergraduate and graduate combined, will be recognized as the overall podium finishers.


3. The top three athletes in each gender/division will also be recognized with awards.


 


Team scoring will be done as follows:
1. To qualify as an official men’s team, a team must have a minimum of four men.


2. To qualify as an official women’s team, a team must have a minimum of four women.


3. To qualify as an official overall team, a team must have a minimum of four men and four women.


4. The ranks of the first four finishing women from each collegiate team will be added to make the women’s team score. The lowest women’s team score will win the women’s team competition.


5. The ranks of the first four finishing men from each collegiate team will be added to make the men’s team score. The lowest men’s team score will win the men’s team competition.


6. For a total team score, the women’s team score will be added to the men’s team score to create the overall team score. The lowest overall team score will win the overall team competition.


7. Only the first four finishing women and the first four finishing men from each collegiate team will be counted toward the overall team competition. However, all team members will be included in the individual results and will be eligible for individual awards.


8. The ranking of women and men will be separate, so both the first woman and the first man will have a rank of 1.


9. Although the fifth to seventh man or woman will not count towards the overall team score, they will act as place holders in the team rankings pushing other teams’ scoring athletes down in the ranking.


10. Individuals who are NOT part of a full team will NOT be assigned a point total and will be removed from the determination of team scores.


 


Conference scoring will be done as follows:
1. The top four overall teams from each conference will have their finishing place compiled, similar to the individual men’s and women’s finishers in the team score.


2. The conference with the lowest combined score for their top four overall teams will win the conference competition.
