Freestyle Women BIG Tricks

Turn to

Freestyle’s future is in new forms of competition that will allow women to show off big air alongside the men

story by Laura Nash

After the 2003 Bob’s Hole Rodeo, the last event of the Oregon Cup, there was an impromptu “big trick” contest thrown together at the end of the day. Rodeo spectators perked up. The women were throwing huge vertical blunts and Brooke Winger almost coaxed out a cuss from the announcer when she attempted a helix, which until then was a non- female move. We were all blown away.

Boat designs have left rodeo in the dust.
