For something educational, L’Aventure du Sucre is an excellent interactive museum looking at the history of sugar on the island and Mauritius Aquarium, which shows young snorkellers what to look out for, and has a touch pool. Having recognised the importance of the family market, the island’s hotels and resorts now have state of the art kids clubs and increasingly, teen clubs – many open from 09.30 until 22.00 – as well as babysitting services. Even leading luxury properties
such as One&Only Le Saint Geran, once a bastion of coupledom, now seek to please young guests, often repeat visitors. Mauritius enjoys a high number of repeat visitors with generations returning year after year with their families. In addition to its KidsOnly club, it offers a Youth Fitness Programme (3-17 years) offering activities from Tai Chi to healthy cooking classes.
